The Fadama III Additional Financing Project in the FCT, yesterday, flagged off the construction of a cassava processing plant in Kwali.
Chairman of the Fadama III project in the FCT, Alhaji Abdullahi D. Salisu, said the flag-off of the cassava processing plant was a very special project that would impact in several ways.
He said the project was implemented by the women group, NANTS Cooperative Society, which he noted, was a vulnerable and marginalized group that needed to be provided with all necessary support and encouragement.
He added that the project had taken a significant step towards ensuring the mainstreaming of women groups into Fadama III additional financing in the FCT.
“One of these achievements is the provision of funding support as well as technical backstopping and mentoring to the Fogbe production cluster to engage community-based rice seed production,” he said.
Also speaking at the occasion, the Etsu of Kwali, Alhaji Shaban Audu Nizazo, noted that the establishment of a cassava processing plant by the women group through the support of the FCT Fadama III additional finance would create opportunities and encourage other women to have interest in farming activities in the area.
