IN ABUJA: Agric Minister virtually declared open The 2019 Enabling the Business of Agriculture (EBA) Report Dissemination Event.

The Honourable Minister of Agriculture & Rural Development, Alh. Muhammad Sabo Nanono, today Thursday 20th May 2021 officially declared opened The 2019 Enabling the Business of Agriculture (EBA) Report Dissemination Event.

The Enabling the Business of Agriculture (EBA) report provides governments with key data on their countries’ agribusiness environment and defines good practices to inform policymaking and trigger reforms. The EBA report seeks to identify and analyze legal barriers for the business of agriculture and to qualify transaction costs of government regulations.

Since 2013, the EBA report has formulated and provided indicators that measure the regulatory environment underpinning businesses across agriculture value chains. Evidence collected spans agricultural input and output distribution markets and regulatory conditions that affect private investment and ultimately impact farmers.

By benchmarking a country’s legal and regulatory framework against a set of internationally accepted ‘good practices,’ the EBA indicators not only shed light on countries’ regulatory strengths and constraints but also provide a quantitative assessment that can be used to track reforms.

The dissemination event will share the EBA 2019 report findings for Nigeria and discuss opportunities to improve the enabling environment for agribusiness.
